Job summary

Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs seeks a physician specializing in Anesthesiology to lead comprehensive perioperative care. The role requires an MD or DO, an unrestricted U.S. license, VA-approved residency, and board status in Anesthesiology.

Qualifications

• MD/DO degree from a school approved by VA.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States.
• Residency training in anesthesiology approved by VA/ACGME or AOA leading to board eligibility.
• Board certification or board eligibility in Anesthesiology.
• Pre-placement TB testing and immunization evaluations.
• Ability to participate in anesthesia care and related procedures with supervision as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-anesthetic patient assessment based on patient interview, history and tests.
• Select and administer pre-anesthetic medications per protocol.
• Request and evaluate pertinent labs and studies.
• Insert intravenous catheters and manage airway including intubation.
• Monitor and adjust anesthetic techniques during procedures.
• Provide post-anesthesia care and manage recovery.
• Respond to emergencies and participate in departmental in-service activities.
