Job summary

The Veterans Health Administration seeks a board-eligible or board-certified physician anesthesiologist in Washington DC to join the VA Medical Center. You will perform preoperative assessments, deliver perioperative anesthesia care, and oversee postoperative recovery within a collaborative anesthesia team.

Qualifications

• Must be a graduate of an approved medical school and licensed to practice in the United States or DC.
• Completion of an ACGME/AOA approved residency in a core medical specialty leading to board eligibility.
• Board certification requirements apply for certain VA roles or faculty status.

Responsibilities

• Perform initial evaluations and comprehensive workups of medical/surgical patients.
• Provide peri-operative anesthesia care including pre-op assessment, intra-operative management, and post-anesthesia care.
• Teach anesthesia residents, medical students, and other trainees.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, committees, and relevant research activities.
