Job summary

Veterans Health Administration, Department of Veterans Affairs, seeks a board-certified Anesthesiologist to provide comprehensive anesthesia services across the medical center. The incumbent will oversee anesthesia care, participate in pre/post-operative evaluations, and lead a multidisciplinary team within a dynamic VA setting.

Candidates must hold MD/DO credentials, be licensed in the U.S., complete residency in a core specialty, and demonstrate English proficiency.

Qualifications

  • United States citizenship or eligible non-citizen status as per VA policy.
  • Education: MD/DO from a school approved by VA.
  • Current, full and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or D.C.
  • Completed residency in an approved core specialty leading to board eligibility.
  • Board certification in Anesthesiology is required.
  • English language proficiency in speaking and writing as required by 38 U.S.C. § 7402(d) and 7407(d).
  • Must pass pre-employment physical examination and meet physical requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides medical management of patients undergoing anesthesia for surgical procedures.
  • Administers anesthesia and airway support throughout the medical center.
  • Pre- and post-operative assessment and evaluation for anesthesia care.
  • Perform various anesthesia techniques including regional anesthesia and neuraxial techniques.
  • Supervises medical students or physician residents (including fellows).
  • Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm; may be required to work varying shifts.

Education

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent degree in allopathic/osteopathic medicine
