Job summary

Pleo is seeking a senior Analytics Engineer to own the semantic layer and analytics standards across our organization. You will shape modelling across domains, build governance practices, and lead AI-native data development to support AI services and BI tools.

You will collaborate with Data Infra, MLOps, and Analytics Engineers to define metrics such as MRR and churn, design scalable data models, and drive responsible AI initiatives within the Analytics Warehouse and platform.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in dbt and modelling standards across a function.
• Extensive BigQuery and SQL knowledge with performance considerations.
• Experience owning a semantic layer and metric definitions at scale.
• Experience using AI coding tools within a governed analytics codebase.
• Track record of setting standards across teams and influencing without authority.
• Understanding of what LLMs need from a data layer for AI tooling.

Responsibilities

• Own the semantic layer: define metric definitions and where they live for consistent use by analysts, BI tools and AI tools.
• Set data modelling standards for the function across domains and levels of complexity.
• Build and run the Analytics Engineering community of practice with documentation, onboarding and patterns.
• Lead AI-native development practices and decide where AI tools add value in governance.
• Lead AI-augmented migrations to accelerate data modelling across platforms.
• Design data models and metrics in a documented way enabling AI services without human intervention.
• Engage with backend engineers to drive data contracts and upstream schema ownership.
• Contribute to Data & AI products for external customer analytics.
