Job summary

Remote is seeking an Staff Analytics Engineer to own the Gold layer and enterprise semantic layer within the Databricks lakehouse. You will translate approved KPI definitions into auditable transformation logic and durable analytics models used across multiple domains.

You will collaborate with business stakeholders to clarify metrics, enforce governance, and enable domain teams with modeling standards and reusable patterns, not as the sole owner of every downstream use case.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in analytics, BI or data engineering with strong dimensional modeling.
• Hands-on Databricks experience including Delta Lake and Spark SQL or PySpark.
• Ability to translate KPI requests into precise, auditable logic.
• Strong SQL and dimensional modeling fundamentals (star schemas, SCD).
• Proven ability to work with business stakeholders on metric definitions.
• Understanding of underlying business processes behind metrics.
• Experience evaluating data exposure with governance constraints.
• Familiarity with BI tools and governed self-service analytics.

Responsibilities

• Own Gold-layer design and delivery, including facts, dimensions, and data marts.
• Build and maintain enterprise semantic layer with governed models and metrics.
• Translate KPI definitions into precise, auditable transformations.
• Define promotion path from domain Gold to enterprise Gold with governance sign-off.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify KPI definitions and resolve ambiguity.
• Create reusable patterns, standards, and coaching for domain teams.
• Review Gold-layer models for correctness and conformance.
• Optimize structures for BI and self-service analytics while preserving traceability.
