Job summary

Step is hiring a Senior Data Analytics Engineer to own the analytics data models, pipeline transformation layer, and metric definitions across Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Finance. You will ensure data quality, lineage, and a single source of truth to power dashboards and BI tools.

You’ll build semantic layers for consistent reporting and lead AI-augmented workflows to accelerate modeling and analysis.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in analytics engineering, data engineering or analytics with modeling ownership
• Deep expertise in SQL and analytics data modeling
• Hands-on with BI tools (Looker, Mixpanel, Tableau) and building semantic layers
• Strong focus on quality and trustworthy numbers for executives
• Experience using AI to augment analytics workflows
• Ability to own a workstream from question to decision
• Excellent written and verbal communication, with non-technical audiences in mind
• Proficiency in Python and modern data transformation/orchestration tooling

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain core analytics data models and the transformation layer
• Design, build, and maintain analytics pipelines and transformations
• Provide guidance on metric definitions and instrumentation with cross-functional partners
• Build and maintain the semantic layer under BI tools
• Design and build AI-augmented workflows for faster, deeper analytics
• Create reusable query, visualization, and code components for teams
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and platform engineers as the team grows
