Job summary

Fivetran AI is hiring a Staff R&D Software Engineer in Austin to help build the governed context layer for AI agents and the Context Builder service. You’ll blend research with production software, prototyping retrieval techniques, and hardening backend services while shaping technical direction across teams.

You’ll work across the full stack—from back-end to front-end, with on-call SRE and QA responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of programming across Python and/or Java.
• Ability to influence across multiple teams and define technical direction.
• Experience with SQL and data warehouses (BigQuery/Snowflake/Databricks).
• Willingness to work across full stack including SRE and QA.

Responsibilities

• Research AI techniques and define roadmap for Fivetran AI.
• Prototype ideas and ship production-ready features.
• Define technical direction across several teams.
• Build back-end and front-end for the Fivetran AI product such as Agents Schema and Context Catalog UI.
• Drive AISQL capability and natural language to SQL integration.
• Own production reliability including on-call and incident response.
• Mentor engineers and participate in interview processes.
