Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - AI to lead production AI capabilities on the Confirmation Product Engineering team. You will design and build C#/.NET backend services, while using Python for AI/ML integration, including LLM-powered applications and AI agents.

You will mentor engineers and architect scalable, reliable AI infrastructure. The role requires hands-on development, strong distributed-systems experience, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience with production systems.
• Strong, recent C#/.NET production development experience.
• Hands-on Python for AI/ML system development, model integration and orchestration.
• Experience delivering AI/ML features into production, including LLM-powered apps.
• Platform and distributed-systems experience: microservices, REST/GraphQL, databases, observability.
• AI safety controls, guardrails, evaluation, reliability, and production ops practices.
• Proven capability to lead complex engineering initiatives hands-on as Staff-level tech leader.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, design, and ML teams.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deliver production backend and platform services using C#/.NET.
• Build production AI/ML capabilities using Python, including LLM integration and agents.
• Lead hands-on AI engineering initiatives across product and infrastructure.
• Evolve AI orchestration, routing, tool calling, MCP servers, and multi-step workflows.
• Design scalable distributed systems with caching, queues, rate limits, and observability.
• Develop retrieval and data capabilities with document search, vector stores, and embeddings.
