Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - AI to lead and contribute hands-on to production platforms and AI capabilities. You will build backend services in C#/.NET and leverage Python for AI/ML development, delivering scalable AI-powered features in enterprise software.

You will collaborate with engineers and product teams to set engineering standards, patterns, and reliable AI infrastructure while mentoring junior staff and driving end-to-end delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of progressive software engineering experience delivering large-scale production systems.
• Hands-on C#/.NET backend development and API experience with ASP.NET Core or similar.
• Hands-on Python for AI/ML development, model integration, and orchestration.
• Experience delivering AI/ML features into production and AI-native capabilities.
• Strong platform and distributed-systems engineering with microservices, REST/GraphQL, and data modeling.
• Experience implementing AI safety controls, guardrails, and reliability practices.
• Proven ability to lead complex engineering initiatives end-to-end as a hands-on staff-level engineer.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and deliver production backend and platform services using C#/.NET.
• Build production AI/ML capabilities with Python, including LLM integration and agents.
• Lead hands-on AI engineering initiatives across product and infrastructure.
• Develop AI orchestration capabilities: routing, tool calling, MCP servers, multi-step workflows.
• Design scalable distributed systems with caching, queuing, rate limiting, and observability.
• Create retrieval and data capabilities using document search, embeddings, and indexing.
• Provide hands-on Staff-level technical leadership and mentorship.
