Job summary

Fanatics Commerce is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead the AI/ML Platform, owning the architecture for the AI control plane and related data tools. You will ship the gateway, MCP ecosystem, and scalable retrieval/embedding pipelines, setting standards and mentoring peers.

You will work hands-on, choose architectures, and influence senior leadership while delivering with a bold, relentless mindset at scale.

Qualifications

• 8 to 12 years building production software, including 2+ years on AI/ML platform.
• Staff-level impact: system design across multiple services and platforms.
• Strong Python and FastAPI, plus Java/Go/Scala/TypeScript; hands-on with Terraform and Kubernetes.
• Experience with AWS Bedrock, OpenSearch, PyTorch, and AI tooling.
• Familiarity with data governance, CI/CD, and observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end architecture of the AI control plane: gateway, agent runtime, registry, retrieval, evaluation, cost.
• Build the enterprise LLM gateway with multi-provider routing, caching, and model management.
• Develop MCP/agent ecosystem on a managed runtime like AWS Bedrock Agent Core.
• Own the data retrieval layer and vector/backends; ensure reproducibility at scale.
• Implement evaluation, tracing, and regression gates in CI/CD pipelines.
• Own governance, RBAC, cost attribution, and enterprise tool portfolio.
• Mentor engineers and represent architecture trade-offs to senior leadership.
