Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Staff AI Engineer to build responsible, scalable AI systems. You will partner with engineers, scientists, PMs, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that transform how associates work and how customers interact with Capital One.

You will design, develop, and deploy AI software components, including foundation model training, LLM inference, agents and multi-agent workflows, and governance with observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields with 8+ years in AI/ML, or Master’s with 6+ years.
• 8+ years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training, LLM inference, agents and workflows, similarity search, guardrails, evaluation, governance, and observability.
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters, HuggingFace, VectorDBs, PyTorch, etc.
• Innovate model optimization techniques to improve performance, scalability, cost, latency, throughput.
