Job summary

Rippling is hiring a Staff Software Engineer focused on Agent Assist within Rippling AI. You will lead major technical initiatives, build AI-powered support workflows, and partner with Support, Operations, Product, and Engineering to turn pain points into durable AI platform capabilities.

You will stay hands-on, mentor senior ICs, define technical direction for a small team, and ship impactful improvements across our AI-supported customer workflows in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with staff leadership experience.
• Experience leading complex multi-engineer or cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong systems thinking and ability to link frontline symptoms to product changes.
• Practical AI/LLM fluency with context windows, retrieval, and AI workflows.
• Strong product judgment and customer empathy for operator/customer impact.
• Comfort operating in ambiguous, fast-moving environments with evolving roadmaps.
• Clear, precise communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Ability to lead senior engineers and align cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Own major technical initiatives for Agent Assist from discovery through production rollout.
• Build AI-powered workflows to help support reps answer questions faster with better context.
• Partner with Support, Support Ops, Product, AI Infrastructure, and Engineering to identify pain points and turn them into product bets.
• Create a rapid operating loop: observe workflows, form hypotheses, ship improvements, measure outcomes, iterate weekly.
• Convert repetitive support questions and workarounds into upstream product and platform fixes.
• Design systems making AI assistance reliable, observable, and controllable in high-stakes workflows.
• Build reusable patterns for context, retrieval, tool use, and evaluations for broader Rippling AI surfaces.
• Lead technical direction for a small team, including architecture and code reviews.
• Stay hands-on in codebase: write production code, debug, review critical paths."
• Raise the engineering bar by mentoring senior ICs and improving AI-native product development.
