Job summary
Lumentum Operations LLC in San Jose, CA is seeking a Staff Advanced Packaging/Process Engineer for R&D to drive the development of cutting-edge packaging solutions for optical and photonic devices. You will lead process development, characterization, and optimization across packaging technologies, with a focus on high-volume manufacturing readiness.
The role requires strong expertise in COB, flip-chip, WLP, SiP, hermetic sealing, bonding techniques, and materials science.
Qualifications
- 8+ years in advanced packaging/R&D in optoelectronics, photonics, or semiconductors.
- Proven expertise in COB, flip-chip, WLP, SiP and hermetic sealing.
- Hands-on with bonding, materials science, and packaging equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced packaging processes from concept to high-volume manufacturing.
- Develop and implement robust process control strategies (SPC, DOE) to improve yield and reliability.
- Collaborate with design, reliability, and manufacturing teams to transfer technologies to production.
