Job summary

Voyant Photonics, based in New York City, seeks a Principal Silicon Photonic Packaging & Process Engineer to lead the development and scaling of precision opto-mechanical assembly processes for LiDAR modules.

The role partners with photonics, mechanical, and test teams to translate designs into repeatable production, optimize yields, and support manufacturing partners globally. Willingness to travel up to 25% is required.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Mechanical/Photonic Engineering or equivalent.
• 10+ years in semiconductor/photonic packaging or precision opto-mechanical assembly.
• CAD modeling and simulation, SolidWorks preferred.
• Experience with automated alignment and die-attach systems.
• Strong adhesive dispense physics and related automation equipment.
• DOE methods, SPC, and data-driven yield improvements.

Responsibilities

• Lead package design with focus on robust, scalable manufacturing.
• Own precision lens assembly, alignment, and bonding processes.
• Manage die placement and epoxy dispense parameters for optical coupling.
• Design and run DOEs to optimize yield and reduce variability.
• Oversee reliability qualification per Telecordia, JESD47, AEC-Q.
• Coordinate with CM for transfer to high-volume production.
• Drive line readiness, training, and continuous improvement.
