Job summary

RethinkFirst is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our accounting team. This role reports to the Controller and will handle routine accounting tasks, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close support.

The ideal candidate has an undergraduate degree in accounting or finance, 2–3 years of experience, and strong Excel skills. Remote opportunities are available across the United States, with a focus on GAAP compliance and accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 2–3 years of accounting experience.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP).
• Experience with Sage Intacct preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day accounting activities, including bank reconciliations.
• Prepare journal entries with supporting documentation.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Assist the month-end close process, including balance sheet and P&L reconciliations.
• Ensure deadlines are met for financial reporting and management review.
• Support external auditors with requested documentation.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls.
