Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support month-end and year-end close activities, prepare reconciliations and financial analyses, and assist with budgeting and audits. This role ensures accurate accounting for funds, grants, and donations while monitoring controls and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
Three to five years of progressive accounting experience preferred (GL, reconciliations, month-end close).
Nonprofit or faith-based organization familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

Manage month-end and year-end close activities with accurate journal entries and adjusting entries.
Prepare reconciliations, financial statements, and budget-to-actual analyses.
Support budgeting processes, audits, and grant/donation accounting.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations; follow up on audit recommendations.
Travel to corps/units as needed (approx. 20–30%).
