The Salvation Army in California seeks a Staff Accountant to support accounting, financial reporting, and compliance across the division. You will handle month-end closings, reconciliations, and grant accounting, ensuring accuracy and strong stewardship of resources.

You will assess controls, train staff, and collaborate with divisional units while traveling 20–30% to support sites and audits. A nonprofit background and GAAP knowledge are highly valued.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, including general ledger, reconciliations, and month-end/year-end closing.
• Experience in internal audit, internal controls, risk assessment, or compliance is desirable.
• Nonprofit or faith-based experience is strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal control practices.

Responsabilidades

• Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings with journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Prepare and reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts; maintain schedules and documentation.
• Analyze financial statements, GL reports, and budget-to-actual variances.
• Support AP/AR, cash management, payroll, fixed assets, and other accounting functions as needed.
• Review transactions for proper coding, fund allocation, and policy compliance.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, audits, and audit schedules.
• Coordinate with units to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
