Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a Staff Accountant to perform essential accounting duties, including journal entries, account reconciliations, vendor maintenance, and responding to inquiries.

Under the supervision of the Accounting Manager, you will support monthly closes, assist with audits, and ensure accuracy and compliance within the finance department. This role requires strong Excel skills and attention to detail, with the flexibility to travel off-island as necessary.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or 1 year of related experience.
• Proficient in Excel and other office applications.
• Valid Hawaii driver’s license.
• Travel off-island as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Record journal entries.
• Perform assigned account reconciliations and other monthly closings procedures including clearing internal company transactions.
• Assist Corps Officers and/or Department Heads in all finance matters as needed.
• Setup and maintain customers and vendors.
• Work directly with department heads and funding agencies in relation to billing revenue and collecting receivables on a timely basis.
• Assist accounting manager and controller with internal & external audits schedules and other requests as needed.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
• Ensure internal controls are in place and maintained.
