You will handle intercompany activity across multiple entities, month-end close, AP/AR, and inventory-related reporting while ensuring accurate documentation and timely deadlines.

Qualifications

• Hands-on accounting across multiple entities or divisions including intercompany activity.
• Experience with bank and balance-sheet reconciliations, GL, AP/AR and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills with large reports and discrepancy resolution.
• Careful documentation, follow-up, and ability to manage recurring deadlines.
• Ability to work onsite in Carteret, NJ five days a week.

Responsibilities

• Prepare bank, general ledger, balance-sheet, and intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities.
• Investigate outstanding transactions and resolve discrepancies in cash, loan, suspense, and other accounts.
• Review ACH transactions, checks, AP/AR adjustments, aging reports, and card activity.
• Prepare journal entries and recurring monthly/quarterly schedules.
• Support inventory reporting, COGS, freight reviews, and billbacks.
• Maintain financial and operational reports including payroll and overtime schedules.
• Manage insurance certificates and schedules; track claims.
• Follow up on auto and workers’ comp claims; maintain risk docs.

Staff Accountant | Multi-Entity Accounting & Risk Management

Employment type: Full-time, temp-to-hire; direct hire may be considered

Compensation: $31–$35/hr | Carteret, NJ

MOHR Talent is recruiting a Staff Accountant for an established distribution company. This role reports to the Controller and combines daily accounting, reconciliations, and reporting with insurance and risk management support.

We are looking for someone who has worked across multiple entities and enjoys tracing discrepancies to their source. You should be comfortable moving between month-end work, AP/AR, inventory-related reports, and follow-up with colleagues across the business. Prior insurance or claims experience is helpful, but the company can train someone with a strong accounting background.

What you’ll do

• Prepare bank, general ledger, balance-sheet, and intercompany reconciliations across multiple entities.
• Investigate outstanding transactions and resolve discrepancies in cash, loan, suspense, and other assigned accounts.
• Review ACH transactions, checks, AP/AR adjustments, aging reports, and corporate card activity.
• Prepare journal entries and recurring monthly and quarterly accounting schedules.
• Support inventory reporting, COGS and direct-cost analysis, freight reviews, and billbacks.
• Maintain financial and operational reports, including productivity, payroll, and overtime schedules.
• Request and track certificates of insurance and maintain insurance-related schedules.
• Follow up on auto and workers’ compensation claims and help maintain risk and safety documentation.

What we’re looking for

• Hands‑on accounting experience across multiple entities or business divisions, including intercompany activity.
• Experience with bank and balance-sheet reconciliations, general ledger accounts, AP/AR, and month-end close.
• Strong Excel skills and the ability to work through large reports and account discrepancies.
• Careful documentation, consistent follow‑up, and comfort managing several recurring deadlines.
• Ability to work onsite in Carteret five days per week.
