Job summary

Dirigo Federal Credit Union, headquartered in Lewiston, Maine, is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our Accounting Team. This on-site role supports month-end close, journal entries, AP, and regulatory reporting to ensure accurate financials and compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of accounting principles, procedures, and industry best practices.
• Prior experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple deadlines, and prioritize effectively.
• Professional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with individuals across the credit union and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end closing process and prepare monthly account analyses.
• Perform balance sheet account analysis and reconciliations.
• Create and post journal entries.
• Process accounts payable.
• Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and regulatory reports.
• Produce Excel-based financial reports and support general accounting functions.
• Assist with miscellaneous projects and process improvements.
