Job summary

Auburn Manufacturing, Inc. in Auburn, Maine is seeking a Staff Accountant to join its team. The role focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, and producing timely financial reports.

This position also serves as a backup for Accounts Payable and Purchasing, offering opportunities to improve processes and collaborate across departments in a growing manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred, or Associate's Degree with equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Experience with accounting software or ERP systems; NetSuite experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
• Solid understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate general ledger records and accounting transactions.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit card accounts, and general ledger accounts.
• Support month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
• Assist with payroll processing and related accounting entries.
• Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
• Generate reports and manage transactions within NetSuite and other accounting systems; provide backup for Accounts Payable.
• Review expense reports, company credit card activity, and supporting documentation for accuracy.
