Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant in Maryland to support day-to-day accounting operations and the monthly close process. The role involves journal entries, reconciliations, invoicing, and general ledger activities.

Responsibilities include completing month-end close, preparing reconciliations, processing invoices, and assisting with audits. 1–2 years of accounting experience and strong Excel skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• 1–2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a corporate environment.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close and account reconciliations.
• Experience with cash/bank reconciliations and invoicing.
• Understanding of general ledger accounting and U.S. GAAP.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, lookups, PivotTables).
• Experience with ERP/accounting systems such as NetSuite, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage Intacct, SAP, or Oracle is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize and meet monthly deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Participate in month-end close with journal entries and reconciliations.
• Perform daily and monthly cash and bank reconciliations and research discrepancies.
• Prepare and process customer invoices with accurate billing.
• Monitor outstanding receivables and assist with cash application and collections.
• Prepare and post recurring and adjusting journal entries.
• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts; resolve reconciling items.
• Maintain schedules for accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and other accounts.
• Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial reporting.
• Research account variances and investigate discrepancies.
• Maintain organized supporting documentation and accounting records.
• Assist with external audit requests and schedules.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing, payment, and accounting questions.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting.
