Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a data-driven Accounting Clerk to support the DHQ Finance Department with data entry and journal preparation. Responsibilities include accounts receivable/payable processing and ensuring policy adherence.

Other duties include preparing journals, reconciling and reviewing vouchers, generating reports, and assisting with training. Strong Excel/Word skills and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associates degree, bachelor's degree or Accounting Certification preferred.
• Two years’ accounting experience; more with degree/cert.
• Two to four years’ experience in an advanced accounting position preferred.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook with high accuracy.

Responsibilities

• Utilize Accounting Software.
• Audit preparation.
• Utilize Report Software.
• Journal preparation.
• Process and data entry of Corps Accounts Receivable and Payable.
• Process check batches.
• Review vouchers for policy and GL coding.
• Understand Chart of Accounts coding.
• Special projects as assigned by Assistant Controller.
• Mentor Corps employees and assist training.
• Assist with quarterly reconciliations.
• Generate reports and reconciliation spreadsheets.
• Gifts in Kind / Reach review.
• Vendor maintenance.
• Aged AP/AR analysis.
