Job summary

Emerald Resource Group is seeking a Staff Accountant in the Wooster area to work closely with the Controller and get hands-on exposure across accounting and finance operations. This early-career role offers growth potential as responsibilities expand with the business.

You will assist with month-end, close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, inventory cost records, and support for budgeting and forecasting, with exposure to external accounts and audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience.
• Solid grasp of GAAP and general ledger accounting.
• Strong Excel skills; comfortable learning ERP systems.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and curious about how the business works.
• Manufacturing, distribution, or packaging experience is a plus, not a requirement.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
• Prepare journal entries and reconcile GL and balance sheet accounts
• Support AP, AR, and bank/credit card reconciliations
• Maintain inventory and cost accounting records
• Help with financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
• Support external accountants, auditors, and tax requests
• Assist with fixed assets and process improvements
