Job summary

Cherry Bekaert LLP is seeking a Staff Fund Accountant to support day-to-day accounting for private investments (VC, PE & Real Estate). This fully remote role requires proximity to the Washington, DC metro region and offers a compensation range of $65K-$80K annually.

You will work with the Finance & Investment Operations team on accounting, investor reporting, and investment operations, gaining hands-on experience in a lean, entrepreneurial environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 1–3 years of accounting or related financial experience preferred.
• Recent graduates with strong internship experience will be considered.
• Fund accounting or investment accounting exposure is a plus but not required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a deadline-driven environment.
• Demonstrated initiative, problem-solving skills, and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Prepare journal entries and support general ledger accounting activities.
• Perform account and bank reconciliations.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
• Support accounting and recordkeeping for investment entities.
• Prepare and coordinate wire and payment activity within internal controls.
• Assist with investor statements, reporting, and documentation requests.
• Respond professionally to routine investor inquiries.
• Support K-1 documentation and related investor requests.
• Assist with investment and transaction closing activities.
• Support audit, tax, filing, and regulatory processes.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
• Partner with finance leadership on ad hoc accounting and investment operations needs.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, workflows, systems, and automation.

Compensation: $65K-$80K annually

Our client is a rapidly growing private investment firm providing exposure to investments across venture capital, private equity, and real estate. The organization has experienced significant growth and is expanding its finance and investment operations team to support its growing investment platform.

Position Overview

The Staff Fund Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting and financial operations of the firm's investment activities. This individual will work closely with the Finance & Investment Operations team and gain hands‑on experience across accounting, investor reporting, transactional activity, and investment operations.

This is a highly visible position within a lean, entrepreneurial team. Strong communication skills, intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn are equally important as technical accounting experience.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related discipline preferred
• Approximately 1-3 years of accounting or related financial experience preferred
• Recent graduates with strong, hands‑on internship experience will also be considered
• Working knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts
• Exposure to reconciliations, general ledger accounting, month‑end close, AP/cash activity, or financial reporting
• Fund accounting, investment accounting, private equity, venture capital, or fund administration experience is a plus, but not required
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work accurately in a deadline‑driven environment
• Demonstrated initiative, problem‑solving skills, and willingness to learn

Location

This position is fully remote; however, candidates must be located within the greater Washington, DC / Northern Virginia / DMV area.
