Cyperus Group LLC is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance team in Northern New Jersey. The role emphasizes GAAP, journal entries, and monthly close ownership, with opportunities to work in a hybrid environment.

The ideal candidate will manage billing/invoicing, reconcile accounts, and support audits, while maintaining accurate general ledger records and timely financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–4 years of relevant accounting experience (staff accountant or similar).
• Strong working knowledge of GAAP and journal entry processes.
• Experience with billing/invoicing and accounts receivable.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and post journal entries in accordance with GAAP.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including account reconciliations and variance analysis.
• Manage client/customer billing, including generating invoices, tracking accounts receivable, and resolving billing discrepancies.
• Maintain accurate and organized general ledger records.
• Reconcile bank statements, credit card statements, and balance sheet accounts.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of financial statements and internal reporting packages.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies.
• Support external audits and tax preparation by providing documentation and schedules.
• Identify and help implement process improvements within the accounting function.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve billing or accounting-related inquiries.
