Job summary

CFS is seeking a motivated Staff Accountant to join our accounting and finance team in Ansonia, CT. This role supports day‑to‑day accounting, month‑end close, financial reporting, and account reconciliations to deliver accurate, timely numbers.

Ideal for an early‑career accountant, you will gain broad exposure to general ledger activities, fixed asset and lease accounting, and participation in internal and external audits within a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3+ years of accounting experience.
• Knowledge of GAAP, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
• Month-end close experience preferred.
• Strong Excel skills including PivotTables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Experience with an ERP system; SAP experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries and perform general ledger account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Perform balance sheet and P&L account analysis and investigate variances.
• Support fixed asset accounting, including asset maintenance and CAPEX reporting.
• Assist with lease accounting activities and related monthly entries.
• Review financial activity and work with internal teams to resolve accounting discrepancies.
• Support annual internal and external audit requests.
• Assist with financial reporting and analysis as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
• Participate in ad hoc accounting and finance projects.
