Job summary

The Third Group in Boca Raton is seeking a Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting to assist in preparing accurate and timely financial statements, support reconciliations, and collaborate with senior accounting staff in a fast-paced environment.

You will gain exposure to GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX controls, with opportunities to grow toward CPA licensure while contributing to internal controls and audit readiness.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience; public accounting internship preferred.
  • CPA candidate actively pursuing license preferred.
  • Foundational knowledge of US GAAP and financial statement preparation.
  • Exposure to SEC reporting and SOX compliance a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, SUMIFS); ERP systems experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and prepaid analysis.
  • Support preparation of internal and external financial reporting packages, including basic variance analysis.
  • Assist with external audit requests by preparing audit schedules and documentation.
  • Support research and documentation of technical accounting issues under ASC guidance.
  • Assist with SEC reporting requirements (10-K and 10-Q) if applicable.
  • Support maintenance of internal controls in alignment with SOX requirements.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, tax, and operational teams to ensure accurate financial data.
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives to streamline close and reporting cycles.

Position Summary

The Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting will be responsible for assisting in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements, supporting reconciliations and audit requests, and partnering closely with senior accounting team members. Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including supporting schedules
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and prepaid analysis as part of the month-end and year-end close process
  • Support preparation of internal and external financial reporting packages, including basic variance analysis
  • Assist with external audit requests by preparing audit schedules, workpapers, and documentation
  • Support research and documentation of technical accounting issues under current ASC guidance, under the guidance of senior team members
  • Assist with SEC reporting requirements, including 10-K and 10-Q filings, if applicable to the organization
  • Support maintenance of internal controls in alignment with SOX requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with FP&A, tax, and operational teams to ensure accurate financial data
  • Assist with process improvement initiatives to streamline close and reporting cycles
Qualifications

Preferred Attributes
  • Public accounting internship or 1-2 years of experience at a Big 4 or national/regional firm
