Prison Fellowship is the nation’s largest Christian nonprofit, equipping the Church to serve currently and formerly incarcerated people and their families, and to advocate for justice and human dignity. We encounter Jesus with those behind bars, breaking cycles of crime and praying for a revival of justice, mercy, and hope in our culture.

Prison Fellowship is committed to the highest standards of conduct, ethics, and Christian values, grounded in the Bible, as reflected in our Statement of Faith below.

What we are looking for:

A driven and mission-focused Staff Accountant to support the Accounting & Audit team's mission of ensuring accurate and transparent financial reporting in compliance with authoritative accounting standards.

Expectations of the role:

This role involves managing daily accounting tasks and assisting with the monthly close process, including maintaining and reconciling key balance sheet and income statement accounts in accordance with US GAAP.

  1. Monitor and record/import revenue activity, inventory activity, payroll entries, fixed asset additions, and intercompany transactions and allocations to ensure compliance with Financial Reporting Standards
  2. Monitor, track, and reconcile prepaid expenses and vendor and airfare advances; review invoice coding for transactions that require special accounting treatment; and record expenses in accordance with US GAAP
  3. Support finance team on annual fixed asset inventory, annual physical warehouse inventory, system/process automation and enhancement, accounting standard research, and other special projects or journal entries as requested
  4. Set up items in accounting software and prepare in-kind donation request forms
  5. Maintain audit schedules on a monthly and quarterly basis and provide support during the audit
Qualifications:
  • Maintain an active relationship with Jesus Christ and support the ministry through prayer and actions
  • 3-5 years of accounting experience
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and working knowledge of accounting software, preferably Sage Intacct
  • Knowledge of non-profit accounting and GAAP
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills; approachable with strong collaboration skills
  • This is a remote position with a 5% travel component
What we offer:

At Prison Fellowship, our goal is to support the total well-being of all our employees. Our benefits include health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, retirement funding, flexible spending accounts, paid maternity and parental leave, and more. Paid leave starts at 39 days after one year of employment. Part-time employees working at least 20 hours per week are eligible for select offerings on a pro-rated basis. We foster a team-oriented, mission-driven, supportive environment with technology solutions and opportunities for growth.

Salary range: $62,000 - $75,000. Visit our employment page and YouTube channel for more information.
