Position Title: Staff Accountant

Position Overview

The Staff Accountant at Out of the Box Technology plays an essential role within the finance team by supporting day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will assist with the month-end close, perform reconciliations, maintain general ledger integrity, and support compliance and audit activities. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to grow, and brings 1–2 years of hands-on accounting experience, preferably in a technology or professional services environment.

Key Responsibilities

Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting

• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
• Assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank, credit card, and key balance sheet accounts.
• Assist with the preparation of internal financial reports and supporting schedules.
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

Compliance & Internal Controls

• Help ensure accounting procedures are in compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
• Maintain organized documentation to support audits and tax filings.
• Assist in compiling information for internal and external audits.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

• Support budgeting and forecasting processes by gathering data and preparing initial drafts.
• Assist with variance analysis and reporting as directed by the CFO.

Process Improvement & Systems Support

• Identify opportunities for process efficiency and participate in automation projects.
• Assist with accounting system usage and contribute to system improvement initiatives.
• Learn and apply best practices in accounting operations and reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• Experience: 1–2 years of hands-on accounting experience; internship or entry-level experience in public accounting or a related industry is a plus.
• Technical Knowledge: Understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles.
• Systems Proficiency: Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other accounting software preferred.
• Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial data entry and review.
• Organizational Skills: Ability to manage tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
• Communication: Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
