Job summary

The LaSalle Network is hiring a Junior Staff Accountant in Lombard, IL. Onsite 5 days/week with hybrid flexibility after training, offering a salary between $60,000 and $80,000 plus discretionary bonus eligibility.

You will support daily accounting operations, assist with month-end close, and collaborate with Senior Accountants on projects. Experience in reconciliations and a mortgage background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1-3 years of accounting experience.
• Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations, account reconciliations, journal entries, mortgage industry knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage the accounting department inbox.
• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations.
• Prepare and post journal entries.
• Assist with month-end close activities (5-day monthly close; ~9-day quarterly close).
• Escalate non-routine accounting issues to appropriate team members.
• Support the Senior Accountant with ad hoc projects and reporting requests.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a Junior Staff Accountant to join their growing accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional looking to build upon their experience in reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities within the mortgage banking industry.

The Junior Staff Accountant will support daily accounting operations, assist with month-end close, and work closely with Senior Accounting team members on special projects and ad hoc requests.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage the accounting department inbox
• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations
• Prepare and post journal entries
• Assist with month-end close activities (5-day monthly close; approximately 9-day quarterly close)
• Escalate non-routine accounting issues to appropriate team members
• Support the Senior Accountant with ad hoc projects and reporting requests

Utilize accounting and reporting tools including:

• Encompass (Loan Operating System)
• Excel
• Power BI

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 1-3 years of accounting experience
• Hands-on experience with:

• Bank reconciliations
• Account reconciliations
• Journal entries
• Mortgage industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using Power BI
