A growing mortgage firm is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to oversee the financial operations related to mortgage transactions. In this role, you will collaborate with loan officers, underwriting teams, and corporate accounting to deliver accurate financial reporting, manage reconciliations, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. Responsibilities

• Reconcile and record loan transactions related to various lines of credit and associated bank account activity.
• Manage and process journal entries for these transactions, leveraging automation through the CMS and GLS loan systems while identifying opportunities for further automation.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations related to mortgage loan origination, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain and update spreadsheet models and reports used in accounting processes.
• Investigate and resolve reconciliation variances by collaborating with Originations Operations and Servicing teams.
• Ensure accuracy in general ledger postings and assist in month-end and year-end close processes.
• Analyze financial data to support reporting, variance analysis, and decision-making.
• Work with internal and external auditors, as well as state examiners, to provide timely and accurate financial information.
• Assist in preparing financial reports for statutory and compliance-related reporting.
• Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in accounting operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 1-3 years of related accounting experience required.
• Mortgage loan accounting and mortgage industry experience preferred.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel; database experience is a plus.
• Strong ability to analyze complex transactions and perform reconciliations using advanced spreadsheet functions.
• Must have a keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
