Job summary

Our client, a growing and dynamic organization in the Knoxville area, is seeking a detail-oriented Contract Staff Accountant to support the accounting team through a period of continued growth.

This role offers the opportunity to contribute to key accounting functions, assist with month-end close activities, and collaborate with multiple departments in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of general accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and account reconciliations.
• Experience supporting month-end close activities.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting.
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
• Perform account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.
• Maintain accrual schedules and support fixed asset accounting.
• Analyze financial data and investigate discrepancies.
• Support financial reporting activities and schedule preparation.
• Assist with audit requests and documentation gathering.
• Work closely with AP, AR, Payroll, and Finance teams to ensure accurate financial records.
• Identify process improvements and help streamline accounting procedures.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
