Job summary

Phase 1 Equity is seeking aStaff Accountant to own the monthly close, manage journal entries, perform reconciliations, and help scale our multi-entity accounting framework. The role supports reporting, budgeting, and forecasting in a fast-growing dental services organization.

You will begin handling payroll in Paylocity and expand responsibilities as the company grows, with a hybrid work model balancing in-office collaboration and remote work. Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of accounting experience with a BA in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• Solid grasp of GAAP.
• Strong Excel skills, pivot tables and lookups.
• Ability to juggle deadlines without dropping the ball.
• Bonus points for Sage Intacct, Paylocity payroll, healthcare/dental multi-entity experience.

Responsibilities

• Own the close with journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and roll-forwards.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, balance sheet, and intercompany accounts across entities.
• Research variances, prepare analyses, support reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Bring newly acquired practices into the accounting system and help scale processes.
• Own payroll processing in Paylocity, then transition to backup role as scope grows.
• Spot inefficiencies and document procedures to strengthen controls.

Phase 1 Equity is a fast-growing Dental Service Organization partnering with orthodontic practices across the country. We’re building something big, and we need a sharp, detail-obsessed accountant to help keep our books tight as we grow.

What you’ll do

• Own the close. Journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and roll-forwards, done right and on time every month.
• Keep things balanced. Reconcile bank, credit card, balance sheet, and intercompany accounts across multiple entities.
• Dig into the numbers. Research variances, prepare account analyses, and support reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Help us grow. Bring newly acquired practices into our accounting system and help build the processes that let us scale.
• Keep payroll running smoothly. You’ll own payroll processing in Paylocity to start, then shift into a backup role as your accounting responsibilities grow with the company.
• Make things better. Spot inefficiencies, document procedures, and help strengthen our controls.

What you bring

• 3–5 years of accounting experience, with a bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance preferred.
• A solid grasp of GAAP.
• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables and lookups are your friends).
• The ability to juggle deadlines without dropping the ball.
• Bonus points for Sage Intacct, Paylocity, payroll experience, or a background in healthcare, dental, or multi-entity organizations.
