Job summary

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Staff Accountant to support multi-entity accounting across franchise locations. This in-office role covers month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations and payroll activities, with room to grow in accounting knowledge.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, 2+ years of accounting experience, and strong Excel skills. This role offers stability and career advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field required or equivalent experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Experience with payroll is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide payroll backup support as needed.
• Process sales tax filings.
• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts.
• Prepare and post journal entries and reconciliations.
• Participate in and eventually own portions of the monthly close.
• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation.
• Review GL activity for accuracy and classification.
• Prepare monthly financial and management reports.
• Assist with accruals, allocations and balance-sheet reconciliations.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Support year-end, insurance/audit and tax requests.
• Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend improvements.
• Project support as needed.

Pay: $50,000-$60,000 annually (based on experience and education)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, this is an in-office position

We are seeking a Staff Accountant to join our growing accounting team supporting multiple TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise locations across several states. This position offers broad exposure to multi-entity accounting, month-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, payroll and operational accounting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical and interested in growing their accounting knowledge and responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide backup support for payroll processing as needed


• Sales tax filings


• Reconcile bank and credit card accounts


• Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations


• Participate in and eventually own portions of the monthly close


• Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation


• Review general ledger activity for accuracy and proper classification


• Prepare monthly financial and management reports


• Assist with accruals, allocations and balance-sheet reconciliations


• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis


• Support year-end, insurance/audit and tax-related requests


• Identify accounting discrepancies and recommend corrections/process improvements


• Project support as needed

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant accounting experience considered


• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize and meet deadlines


• Payroll experience preferred


• 2+ years of accounting experience preferred


• Experience with general ledger accounting, account reconciliations and month-end close strongly preferred


• Multi-entity or multi-location accounting experience is a plus


• Excellent oral and written communication skills


• Provide outstanding and timely customer service


• Exceptional organizational skills and must be able to multi-task under time constraints


• Ensure accuracy and consistency


• Ability to work independently


• Proficient in Microsoft applications: Excel, Word, and Outlook
