Job summary

Oak View Group in Evanston, IL seeks a Building Maintenance Engineer to operate, maintain, and repair Ryan Field's systems, ensuring a safe, efficient, and first-class environment for guests, staff, and partners. You will perform preventive maintenance, respond to work orders, monitor BAS, and support events before, during, and after events.

The role focuses on mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems, with a strong emphasis on safety, compliance, and energy efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; trade/technical certificate preferred.
• 3+ years of maintenance experience in commercial, institutional, sports, or hospitality facilities.
• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and building systems.
• Ability to diagnose and repair building equipment with minimal supervision.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and maintenance software.
• Ability to read blueprints, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and life safety systems.
• Monitor and operate the Building Automation System (BAS) for optimal performance and comfort.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment including air handlers, pumps, boilers, chillers, lights, and plumbing.
• Complete routine inspections and identify maintenance needs before failures occur.
• Respond to maintenance requests and emergency repairs promptly.
• Maintain CMMS records and preventative maintenance schedules.
• Assist with setup and breakdown for athletic events and concerts.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized work.
• Monitor energy usage and identify efficiency opportunities.
• Maintain inventory of maintenance supplies and parts.
• Ensure OSHA, fire codes, environmental standards, and university policies compliance.
• Support snow removal, weather preparedness, and emergency response as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Participate in on-call rotations and after-hours emergencies.
