Job summary

UAB Medicine in Alabama is seeking a Surgical Technologist to support the safe and efficient performance of procedures at the UAB St. Vincent's One Nineteen campus. This dayshift role includes a 6:00 a.m.

– 2:30 p.m. schedule with assigned late shifts and a bonus opportunity of up to $6,000. You will prepare the operating suite, pass instruments, assist with positioning and draping, track counts, and support hemostasis during surgery.

Qualifications

• HS diploma equivalency plus surgical tech program with clinical component.
• Minimum 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Associate’s degree or technical degree preferred.

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments and counts throughout procedures.

Job Description

• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons provision of hemostasis during surgery.

Qualifications

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.
