Job summary

UAB Medicine is seeking a Surgical Technologist to facilitate safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures at UAB St Vincent's St. Clair.

The role involves preparing the operating suite, passing instruments, assisting with patient positioning and draping, maintaining instrument counts, and supporting hemostasis during surgery. Prerequisites include a surgical technologist program completion with clinical component or equivalent experience; BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• High school diploma equivalency AND completion of a surgical technologist program with a clinical component OR a minimum of 4 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience required.
• Associate's degree or technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare surgical operating suite with sterile and non-sterile instruments and supplies.
• Hand required and requested instruments and supplies to surgeon during surgery.
• Assist with preparing, transporting, positioning and draping patients.
• Maintain instruments in an organized manner and monitor and track instruments counts throughout procedures.
• Assist surgeons with provision of hemostasis during surgery.
