Job summary

Waymo in Mountain View, CA, seeks a Pipeline SRE Tech Lead Manager to drive the reliability of our most critical release pipelines. You will lead the strategy for observability, incident management, capacity planning and continuous improvement of production systems.

This role manages an SRE team across Release and Pipeline infrastructure, organizes on-call rotations, develops playbooks, and enhances on-call metrics and post-mitigation workstreams to fortify the software that powers our

Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in computer science, engineering, or related field.
• 15+ years of experience leading large-scale production software systems, especially ML systems.
• 10+ years of experience as an organizational leader, managing a group and collaborating with other leaders.
• 5+ years of experience managing managers and running on-call rotations.

Responsibilities

• Lead an SRE team spanning Waymo's Release and Pipeline infrastructure.
• Organize and participate in on-call rotations for driving field issues.
• Harden software, develop playbooks, improve on-call metrics and post-mitigation workstreams.
• Lead engineering analysis and response to novel or unexpected events in development cycles.
• Partner with Onboard, Eval and Simulator orgs to improve large-scale software engineering practices.
• Contribute to system software architecture to improve robustness and debuggability.
• If needed: hire and manage additional engineers.
