Job summary

Wayve is seeking an SRE Manager to build and lead a Vehicle Software SRE team from the ground up. You will define the reliability charter, hire founding engineers, and set the operating model for fleet-critical software across hardware and software.

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production software systems with SRE/production engineering, or robotics.
• 3+ years in people leadership, hiring and coaching engineers while coding and reviewing.
• Proven experience with SLOs, error budgets, production-readiness standards, observability, incident management.
• Hands-on production software, automation, and diagnostic tooling in C++, Rust, Python, or Go, with CI/CD and telemetry.
• Calm, structured leadership during incidents with clear cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

• Team building & leadership: Build a new SRE team from the ground up while staying hands-on as a player-coach.
• Reliability strategy: Define technical direction for vehicle software reliability across deployment and diagnostics.
• Production readiness: Define SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, release criteria, automated gates and fault-injection practices.
• Observability & tooling: Design observability and automation to shorten root-cause time and reduce toil.
• Incident response: Lead investigations and ensure durable fixes with strong on-call practices.
• Mentorship & communication: Coach engineers and keep leadership informed on reliability health and risks.
