Job summary

Wayve in Sunnyvale is seeking an experienced SRE Manager to build and lead the Vehicle Software SRE team from the ground up. You will define its charter, hire founding engineers, establish the operating model, and set the technical strategy that makes reliability a first‑class property of fleet software.

You’ll work in a production environment at the intersection of software, hardware, networking, sensors, and the physical world, guiding architecture and tooling to prevent failures and scale

Qualifications

• 8+ years building and operating production software with SRE/production engineering or robotics.
• 3+ years in people leadership, hiring and coaching engineers.
• Experience with SLOs, error budgets, observability, and incident postmortems.
• Hands-on in C++, Rust, Python, or Go with CI/CD and telemetry tooling.
• Calm, structured leadership during incidents with clear cross-team communication.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a new SRE team from the ground up.
• Define reliability strategy and production readiness standards.
• Define SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, release gates, and disaster plans.
• Design observability tooling to shorten fault diagnosis.
• Lead incident investigations and improve on-call processes.
• Mentor engineers and communicate reliability risks to leadership.
