Job summary

WEX, Inc. is seeking a mid-level Site Reliability Engineer Manager to lead a globally distributed SRE team focused on reliability, observability, and performance across our platforms.

You will mentor engineers, drive incident response, implement automation, and partner with product teams to embed reliability into our software while embracing AI-assisted monitoring and agile practices in a dynamic, fast-growing environment in Chicago.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in system administration, DevOps, or SRE roles.
• 2+ years in people management or team leadership.
• 2+ years in leading projects.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation.
• Experience with monitoring and logging systems.
• Knowledge of containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of CI/CD and version control.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a globally diverse team of SREs.
• Monitor system health, availability, and performance.
• Develop automation tools for provisioning, monitoring, and alerting.
• Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
• Collaborate with development teams to build reliability features.
• Improve observability and logging for troubleshooting.
• Adhere to security policies and compliance requirements.
