Job summary

JPMorgan Chase is seeking an experienced Site Reliability Engineer II in Chicago to support the Commercial and Investment Banking and Payment Technology Team. You will design and deliver reliability initiatives, write maintainable code, and apply AI-driven insights to triage incidents and reduce toil.

The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, maintaining cloud-based infrastructure, and advancing observability with SLOs and alerting.

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 2+ years applied experience.
• Ability to code in at least one programming language.
• Working knowledge of enterprise-authorized AI capabilities for SRE workflows with data sensitivity awareness.
• Ability to assess AI-assisted operational recommendations for correctness and risk.
• Experience maintaining a cloud-based infrastructure.
• Familiar with site reliability concepts, principles, and practices.
• Familiar with observability, SLIs/SLOs, and telemetry collection.
• Familiarity with containers or Linux/Windows server OS.
• Emerging knowledge of CI/CD practices and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Executes small to medium projects independently with initial direction and graduates to designing and delivering projects independently.
• Uses enterprise-authorized AI capabilities to speed up incident triage, troubleshooting, and post-incident analysis with strong validation.
• Participates in triaging, examining, diagnosing, and resolving incidents and works with others to solve problems at their root.
• Recognizes toil and works toward reducing it through systems engineering or code improvements.
• Implements observability patterns, SLI/SD, and alerting for better transparency and analysis.
• Applies enterprise AI capabilities to identify recurring toil and reliability risks from operational signals.
• Maintains a cloud-based infrastructure and adheres to security and auditability requirements.
