About This Role

The Sr Welder – Training Lead (Aluminum), reports to a Production Supervisor and leads aluminum welding training and development within MLS manufacturing processes and guidelines.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct aluminum welding training for new hires and transfers based on departmental needs.
  • Ensure training aligns with MLS manufacturing requirements, quality standards, and core competencies.
  • Maintain and improve the training curriculum.
  • Vary instruction pace and delivery to accommodate different learning styles.
  • Provide timely feedback to trainees.
  • Maintain a clean, effective, and professional learning environment.
  • Keep accurate records of attendance and progress, reporting to the Training Manager.
  • Complete weld certification documentation in coordination with Quality Control and deliver to the weld engineer.
  • Stay updated with MLS welding technology, processes, and equipment.
  • Read, interpret, and follow blueprints and welding symbols relevant to MLS manufacturing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the Production Supervisor to develop and implement P.I.P. for employees not meeting quality and production standards.
Education:

High school diploma or GED.

Position Requirements:
  • At least five years of experience in MIG and TIG aluminum welding.
  • Formal craft training, with ability to read blueprints and perform shop mathematics.
  • Certification through the MLS training center and demonstrated skills via welding tests.
  • Willingness to work extended hours and rotating shifts.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Physical Demands:

Work in non-climate-controlled environments with extreme temperatures, heights, confined spaces, and exposure to chemicals. Must have sufficient mobility, dexterity, physical strength, and fitness to perform medium-level physical tasks, including lifting up to 35 pounds single and 70 pounds with a team.
