Job summary

Central Transport in Columbus, GA is seeking a Terminal Manager to lead dock operations and drive service excellence. You will oversee loading/unloading, forklift traffic, and palletized freight handling while building a high-performance terminal team.

The ideal candidate has LTL management experience, strong leadership, and a passion for technology, with the ability to multitask and communicate clearly. A 50-hour week expectation is noted, along with safety compliance and shift flexibility.

Qualifications

• Prior LTL management experience strongly preferred.
• Strong leadership including hiring, coaching, counseling, training and mentoring employees.
• Desire to provide exceptional service to customers.
• High aptitude for technology.
• Ability to multitask while remaining detail oriented.
• Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dock operations at the terminal.
• Load & unload freight, manage forklift traffic, and oversee proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain terminal staff.
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers and dock workers.
• Monitor dock production, ensuring KPI goals are met and/or exceeded.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure company operational model compliance.
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts as business levels increase.

_ Terminal Manager _

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Prior LTL management experience is strongly preferred
• Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, and mentor employees

• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work 50 hours/week average
• Bachelor’s Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• This includes the process of loading & unloading freight, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
