Job summary

Central Transport is seeking a Terminal Manager in Massachusetts to lead dock operations, staffing, and safety programs. You will manage loading/unloading, supervise drivers and dock staff, and drive KPI results in a fast-paced LTL terminal.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership, a flair for technology, and a commitment to service excellence, with a willingness to work about 50 hours weekly and adapt to varying shifts as needed.

Qualifications

• Leadership experience in a terminal or similar setting is required.
• Ability to hire, coach, counsel, train and mentor staff.
• Strong aptitude for technology and systems.
• Detail oriented with process discipline and safety focus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to work 50 hours per week on average.
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Oversee dock operations, including loading/unloading, forklift traffic, and pallet handling.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain terminal staff.
• Provide leadership to drivers and dock workers.
• Monitor production to meet KPI goals and exceed them where possible.
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with DOT/OSHA standards.
• Ensure compliance with company operating model and procedures.
• Support a culture of excellence in service to customers.

Terminal Manager

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

• Prior LTL management experience is strongly preferred
• Must have strong leadership skills including the ability to hire, coach, counsel, train, and mentor employees
• Desire to surround customer with excellence in service
• High aptitude for technology
• The ability to multi-task while being detail oriented
• Excellent written, listening and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work 50 hours/week average
• Bachelor's Degree, preferred but not required

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Oversee dock operations at the terminal This includes the process of loading & unloading freight, managing forklift traffic, and overseeing proper picking/sortation of palletized freight.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and retain terminal staff
• Provide leadership and accountability to a team of drivers and dock workers
• Monitor dock production, ensuring facility Key Performance Indicator goals are met and/or exceeded
• Maintain a safe work environment compliant with state and federal DOT/OSHA standards
• Ensure company operational model compliance
• Support a culture of excellence in quality of product to internal and external customers
• Flexibility to work varying shifts as business levels increase
