Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Sr. Staff Platform Engineer to define the technical foundation for scalable, compliant healthcare-focused systems. Remote within the US only.

You will own major platform initiatives, lead architecture, drive reliability and cost improvements, and mentor engineers across teams. The role requires 12+ years in platform/infra/SRE and strong Go/Python/TypeScript/Java skills.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in Platform, Infra, DevOps or SRE with cross-team ownership
• Kubernetes/EKS, service mesh, and Infrastructure-as-Code expertise
• Led complex multi-quarter programs from architecture to execution
• Experience debugging production incidents in distributed systems
• Proficient in Go, Python, TypeScript or Java; strong coding judgment
• Ability to influence across engineering orgs without direct authority
• Experience mentoring Staff-level engineers and shaping system design

Responsibilities

• Own critical platform initiatives with single-threaded responsibility
• Set architectural direction and create shared components for consistency
• Lead through hands-on technical excellence in complex systems
• Drive execution across organizational boundaries and resolve systemic blockers
• Own end-to-end testing infrastructure strategy for engineering teams
• Mentor Staff and Senior engineers on system design and migration strategy
• Lead reduction of technical debt and cost through large-scale infrastructure changes
• Establish metrics to demonstrate the value of platform investments

Job description

For our client, we are seeking a Sr. Staff Platform Engineer to join the team of a leader in the Healthcare space.

This role will help define the technical foundation that supports engineering teams building reliable, scalable systems in a highly regulated healthcare environment. You will own major platform initiatives from architecture through execution, partnering closely with engineering peers to reduce friction, improve consistency, and accelerate delivery. The position also plays a key role in shaping shared infrastructure, strengthening testing practices, and driving measurable improvements in reliability, cost, and operational efficiency.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Compensation: $150,000 – $180,000 annually
