Senior/Staff Software Engineer - Platform
Remote - United States | Full-time
We're working with a rapidly growing, AI-native technology company building the infrastructure behind the next generation of automated financial workflows.
The company has already powered more than $85B in transactions through its platform and is scaling rapidly. They're looking for a Senior/Staff Software Engineer to join their Platform team and help build the infrastructure, developer tooling and systems that enable engineers to ship faster, safer and more reliably.
This is a highly hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys working at the intersection of infrastructure, backend engineering and developer experience.
The Role
You'll treat infrastructure as a product and work closely with engineering teams to improve developer velocity, reliability and scalability.
You’ll be responsible for:
- Owning and evolving AWS infrastructure using Terraform and/or Pulumi
- Building internal developer tooling, TypeScript libraries and shared SDKs
- Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including Buildkite
- Building per-pull-request ephmeral environments to make deployment fast and safe
- Improving platform observability, reliability and performance
- Designing systems around SLOs, auto-scaling and incident response
- Solving complex scaling challenges across databases, compute and distributed infrastructure
- Building backend TypeScript tooling that makes product engineers significantly more productive
- RDS / ElastiCache / MSK
- CloudWatch / CloudTrail
What We’re Looking For
- 7+ years of software engineering experience
- Strong platform / infrastructure / backend engineering background
- Experience working at a high-growth technology company or startup
- Deep hands-on AWS experience across compute, networking, storage and security
- Strong Terraform and/or Pulumi experience
- Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD infrastructure
- Strong TypeScript and Node.js skills
- Comfortable making meaningful changes to backend codebases, not just managing infrastructure
- Experience with reliability engineering, including SLOs, error budgets and incident response
- Strong systems and infrastructure design skills
- Excellent written communication and ability to document complex systems
- A strong product mindset around developer experience and internal tooling
Nice to Have
- Experience building EPHEMERAL / per-PR environments
- Production observability experience with Datadog, CloudWatch, Sentry or distributed tracing
- Experience building internal platforms, CLIs, SDKs, code generators or developer frameworks
- Experience scaling high-throughput systems
- Experience at high-growth companies such as Stripe, Datadog, Cloudflare, Confluent, HashiCorp, OpenAI, Anthropic or similar environments
Why Join?
- AI-native company - building modern technology from the ground up rather than layering AI onto legacy systems
- Platform at the centre - your work directly impacts the productivity of the entire engineering organisation
- Significant growth - join during a major period of engineering expansion
- Challenging technical problems - work on infrastructure operating at meaningful scale
- Fully remote - work remotely across the US
- Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), HSA/FSA and flexible time off
If you're a Senior or Staff Engineer who loves building infrastructure but still wants to write code, build developer tooling and solve difficult backend problems, this could be a great opportunity to make a significant impact.
