Senior Principal Engineer Systems Modeling Simulation
Location: Melbourne, Florida (on‑site)
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems – Product Support organization.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research, develop models, and perform analysis of a wide variety of system types to support requirement development and future technology exploration.
- Work within the Product Support organization on forward‑looking metrics to assess the health and capabilities of weapon systems.
- Develop or integrate new equipment and system simulation frameworks, performance models, algorithms, threat models, and command and control models.
- Simulate real‑time operations and develop software to model system behavior.
- Create and use advanced graphical user interfaces and visualization tools.
- Model operational environments, perform trade studies via computer simulation, and recommend alternative architectures.
- Conduct operational and mission effectiveness analysis.
- Present findings to leadership and produce technical documentation.
Basic Qualifications
- 8 years of experience with a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM); 6 years with a Master’s; 4 years with a Ph.D.
- Familiarity with Logistics Composite Model (L‑COM) and Model for Aircraft Availability Forecasting.
- Strong communication and technical writing skills.
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office, MS Power‑Point, Tableau, R, Python, VBA, Power Query, Microsoft Access, Arena, or similar data‑analytics languages.
- Active U.S. Government Secret clearance (renewed within the last 6 years) and eligibility for Top Secret.
- Experience with data transformation, discrete event simulation, Monte‑Carlo simulations, mathematical optimization, regression analyses, trend & sensitivity analysis, data sampling, and computing.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and present to leadership.
- Knowledge of Military Specifications, Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs), Data Item Descriptions (DIDs), and related technical and contractual documents.
- Experience in detailed risk analysis and Basis of Estimates (BOE).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with or exposure to digital design initiatives, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), and Model Based Sustainment (MBS).
- Previous internship, co‑op, or other work experience demonstrating leadership, teamwork, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience using CAMEO Enterprise Architecture.
- Previous involvement in Capture Development or Capture Teams.
- Minimum 3 years of technical experience in Logistics Engineering (Reliability / Maintainability / Sustainability).
- Understanding of S‑Series Standards/Mil‑STD 1388 (defunct).
- Significant experience in military, government, or commercial aerospace industry (aviation/equipment maintenance, aircraft operations, or commercial industrial technology companies).
Salary
Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00. Salary consideration will be based on factors such as scope of responsibilities, experience, education, and market conditions.
