Job Overview
Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems seeks a Sr. Principal Engineer Electronics – Mission Processing to support the program in Melbourne, FL. The role requires a Top Secret clearance and involves full‑time on‑site work with a 9/80 schedule (every other Friday off). Relocation assistance may be available.
Responsibilities
- Interpret, allocate, tailor, write, and flow‑down requirements across all system architecture levels.
- Design and develop computer, network, and system models and architectures.
- Perform hardware integration, testing, and requirements analysis.
- Collaborate with Integrated Product Teams, conduct trade studies, and document subsystem architectures.
- Analyze performance and evaluate Technology Readiness Level (TRL) for supplier products.
- Document designs using detailed schematics, diagrams, and specifications.
- Collaborate with engineers and program stakeholders to integrate mission‑management subsystems.
- Provide technical management of program partners and suppliers, including development, acquisition, acceptance, qualification, system integration, and test support.
- Develop supplier documentation, performance‑based specifications, and statements of work.
- Build supplier evaluation criteria, conduct technical evaluations, document results, and support supplier technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience, *or* Master’s degree in a STEM discipline and 6 years of related experience.
- Experience developing model‑based systems engineering products (e.g., Cameo) and/or mission engineering.
- Experience in supplier/subcontract management and in developing supplier documentation, performance‑based specifications, and statements of work.
- Experience building supplier evaluation criteria and conducting technical evaluations.
- Ability to review supplier development documents and support technical interchange meetings and design reviews.
- Ability to transfer and maintain the final adjudicated Top‑Secret clearance within a reasonable period, as determined by the company.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with network, commercial cloud, platform infrastructures, and containerized software architecture.
- Familiarity with Digital Engineering processes and environments.
- Knowledge of system engineering design methods, including requirements analysis, specification derivation, and interface control documentation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to work well in a close team environment.
- Experience engaging directly with internal and external technical and programmatic representatives.
- Demonstrated problem‑solving, troubleshooting, and independent work skills.
- Experience in model‑based systems engineering using Cameo or similar SysML tools.
- Familiarity with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) and cloud/container management & security technologies (VMWare, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Docker, RedHat OpenShift, ECS, Swarm, Kubernetes, Nomad).

Salary
Primary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00. Salary offers are based on scope, responsibilities, experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
